Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.
Isaiah 6:3

God is Holy – So what does Holy mean! My Bible Dictionary says “A term in Hebrew probably meaning separate from the ordinary or profane. Also in Hebrew and in Greek  ‘holy’ implies connection with God or the Divine. …… Holy one of Israel is a term for God [in the Old Testament]“. I had to look up what profane meant and Dictionary.com says:-
An Adjective

  1. Characterized by irreverence or contempt for God or sacred principles or things; irreligious.
  2. Not devoted to holy or religious purposes; unconsecrated; secular (opposed to sacred ).
  3. Unholy; heathen; pagan
  4. Not initiated into religious rites or mysteries, as persons.
  5. Common or vulgar.

My interpretation of this is that God is separate, from sin, and therefore separate from sinful man. “[His] eyes are too pure to look on evil;[He] cannot tolerate wrong doing.” (Habakkuk 1:13). I have heard it put that God cannot tolerate the presence of sin.

So where does this leave us, sinful man? “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), therefore are we separated from God? By no means; for:-

All are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
(Romans 3:24-26)

In other words, those who believe that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) and “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” (Ephesians 2:4-5). Regaining full access to God, in fact “you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1). Not only have we regained, through Jesus, full access to God, but a place in eternity with Jesus

This, in the GRACE of God, is a free gift, there is NOTHING we can do to earn this redemption. “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:6-10).

Our God, our Daddy, our Abba Father, is Holy and by rights we should be eternally separated from Him , but by his loving graciousness, through Jesus Christ, He has redeemed us from eternal separation from Him, to eternal life and seated us, with Jesus, at His right hand. I will repeat, this is a FREE GIFT, and we cannot earn it. AMEN, and thank you Jesus.
