Why do I go to church?

(Genesis 2:7-9) God created man from the dust, and built a perfect Garden for the Man, where God could co-exist with him. And yet, (Genesis 2:18) God knew this would not be enough, so he Created “Woman” as a suitable “Helper”. In other words, God wanted to be with us, in person, and to give us ALL GOOD THINGS, nothing was too much trouble for God.

Let us take a second to look at who God is. In Genesis 1 we have the account of how God SPOKE the universe and everything into existence. This speaks of a mighty all powerful God, in Job 38 – 42, where God is putting Job in the picture, but in doing so describes Himself, what a wonderful picture of a wonderful, mighty God capable of things that we cannot even conceive of. However, this can lead us to ask, what need of us has an almighty God? The answer is NONE, God has no need of us.

Yet God created a Universe, with a perfect Garden, just so that he could be with us. God WANTS to be with us and Give us all good things.

Even when we repeatedly failed, eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge (Genesis 3:6), God, not being able to be in the presence of sin, banished us from the Garden. Yet in in this act of banishment, God still made garments of skin to protect us (Genesis 3:21).

The Israelites freed from slavery, wandered in the desert for 40 years wanting to go back to slavery, not trusting God. Even when we were given the Law (Exodus 20), and failed to live up to this, even worshiping a golden calf. We had to live with the consequences for our lack of faith in God (Banishment to Babylon), but even so God still sent Prophets.

I think at this point, if I had been God, I would simply have given up. Perhaps I might have started again elsewhere in the Universe. But fortunately I am not God, God went to the ultimate length, and sacrificed his own Son, so that he could be with me once more. What is more, God has a new Garden, with no pain and suffering, where he can be with us again (Revelation 21:1-5).

GOD WANTS ME TO BE WITH HIM!
