Yesterday Morning, I was at church, and whilst we were singing praise songs, I was watching a friend with his two daughters, one a toddler and the other a few months old. He stood cradling, the baby in his left arm, she was on her tummy smiling at everyone and dribbling down her Dad’s arm and being generally very cute. At the same time He was helping his toddler daughter to dance (no jump) in time to the music. I was remembering how, when the toddler, was a new born, he used hold her in one hand and balance her like an upside down broom, and she loved it and used to giggle, “baby balancing” as we used to call it. Now he has his hands full with 2, he holds the new baby in a different, and some might say, more secure way.
This got me thinking:-
John 10:29
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.
Daniel 5:23
But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways.
Psalm 139 – The whole Psalm but in particular verses 9-10
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
Romans 8: 38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It does not matter where we go, what we do. God has us in the palm of his hand. There is no place we can go, nothing we can do that can remove us from his hand. As I have said before in other blogs, we are adopted as God’s children (Ephesians 1:3-17). And He carries us in the palm of His hand, whether it is “Baby balancing”, or securely in the crook of His arm, whilst we dribble. He will never let us go, He will never drop us, He will always be there guiding us.
We can shut our eyes and pretend He is not there, and we can rebel, and make things hard for ourselves. But we are fooling ourselves, God NEVER lets go.
